Hi again, all! I am super excited to have recently had a chance to talk with Susan Blakeslee, one of the original survivors of the 2048 massacres. Amazingly enough, she has agreed to answer a few questions for us and give us an insider’s view of what life is like for her and how everyone is getting along. So without any further ado, here’s Susan!
SB: Thanks, Len, for letting me do this – it’s kind of fun to be here.
Len: No problem, Sue! Like I said, it is super cool to have you here! So, ready for a couple questions?
SB: Sure – fire away.
Len: OK, first off, tell us a little about yourself.
SB: Well, let’s see… There’s really not much to tell. I grew up in Elizabethville, PA. I did pretty good in school, but I wasn’t top of my class or anything. I did some sports, but I loved gymnastics. Even though most people thought I didn’t have the typical build for it, I ended up winning a few awards for it. Looking back on it all, even though there were a lot of tough times just getting by, I guess I pretty much had it made, compared to so many other places. That is, until the Jackals showed up…
Len: I am really sorry for your losses – it must have truly horrible for you.
SB: (coughs) Wow, I wasn’t expecting that. Actually, it was horrible. Terror, grief, guilt at not being able to do anything about it – some of that doesn’t go away very easily. And if it wouldn’t have been for Corey, it never would have.
Len: You’re of course referring to Corey Martin. Tell me, what do you think of him?
SB: Corey? He is really sweet. You know, I owe him my life. It’s funny – even though he saved my life, at first I thought he’d be just another tough jerk. I was really wrong, there. Oh, he’s tough enough when he has to be, but inside he’d really rather not have to be. I guess the times just kind of do that to you… toughen you up, I mean.
Len: So, Corey’s a favorite of yours?
SB (smiling): You might say that… Between him and Sam – Samantha – well, I don’t think I would have been able to make it.
Len: I’m glad you did! Okay, I’m dying to ask… Who besides Corey, are you favorites? What are the other really like?
SB: Well, I guess I shouldn’t talk too much about the others. They’re all so different… I guess I really like Josanne, who really seems a lot like me except she’s grew up really rich. Her Dad owned some huge company in New England – I really don’t know what she’s doing so far away from there when her family seems wealthy enough to practically own an entire city. But she’s really nice about it. The others I don’t really know too much about, either. Outside of Corey, I really don’t know any of them too well.
Len: What about Melissana?
SB: I’m sorry, I just noticed the time, and Corey’s supposed to pick me up in a few minutes. Is it okay if we end here?
Len: Of course! Thanks again for spending this time with us. I know you’re really busy, and I’m sure we are all grateful you were able to stop by for these couple minutes. Again, thanks!
And there you have it, our chance to talk with Susan Blakeslee!
So what did you think? This opportunity was pretty much a surprise, so I asked what questions came to mind. If we get a chance to have any more of these interviews, what would you like to know? Feel free to post a comment to let me know.
Also, I regret to infor you I am having some technical difficulties with my “Contact the Author” and “Join my Email List” sections of the website. I’m trying to work this through, but until this is resolved, please email me directly at LenJ.Gizinski@gmail.com, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
